Where yo PEEP at?

No, no, no. Not the delicious marshmallowy Easter treat. “Positive Expiratory End Pressure” –> PEEP

Each week in our cardiopulmonary management course we learn so many fascinating things and you know I just love to share! So, your PEEP is a back pressure during exhale that helps keep your alveoli open, normal physiologic PEEP is 5cm H2O. However, for individuals with pulmonary pathology unable to keep this normal PEEP it can be added to mechanical ventilation. This helps individuals decrease shunting of blood through the lungs and improve gas exchange –> awesome sauce!

I’ll bet you’ll never look at a peep the same again 🙂

mmmmm, peep.
