‘your eyes can deceive you, don’t trust them.’

Obi-Wan Kenobi may have been onto something when he gave those famed words to Luke Skywalker in A New Hope….OK, have I lost all the the non-nerds out there?

Well, here is the thing. Recently a good friend gave me some drawings he made of my new home NYC:

Stefan made these drawings without looking at the paper while he was making them and they have an energy and movement that is just fantastic. You are all invited to my room in Sunset park for a private showing of my own personal gallery of art that I have collected and made since living here in NYC (because lets face it, photographs don’t always do justice).

I have made a few of these blind drawings myself now and it is such an interesting exercise. I am fascinated to see what my eyes and hands chose to focus on when I wasn’t ardently curating my movements. When I am done I can see what I really saw.

 So even if you don’t “draw” on a regular basis take a few minutes and try one of these drawings, you may just surprise yourself.
