State of U. ~ Reflecting on personal wellbeing #SOTU

I am a pretty a-political person and I most certainly avoid dreaded p-word conversations at work or with friends (So I certainly won’t bombard you here). However, if there is one thing those cats in Washington can teach us, it is how to reflect on what the action / inaction / and intentions of a year can have on certain goals.

So, while President Obama will be addressing the nation tonight about the wellness of our country (which is an exercise grand in scope indeed), step back and take a moment to assess your own personal wellbeing:

stateofyou

As a part of any whole… be it a nation, a family, a company, or even just one animal in this big ‘ol universe (hmmm, talk about grand)… the most important part is you! If you are not happy, healthy, and well… then there is no way for the rest of the unit to be.

Ask yourself:

Are you taking care of yourself? Is that big beautiful mind stimulated? How is your physical wellbeing? Keeping that heart pumping, those muscles strong and flexible? Fueling yourself with healthy and delicious food?  Spending time doing the things you love with the people you love?

If the answer is no, or not as much as, to any of those questions…consider what little changes you can make to get closer to that happier and healthier you. We are all individuals with different values and different understandings of what full personal wellness is. It is only natural that our paths to that happy healthy life may vary a little. So find yours!

In light of this day, I’d like to rephrase the great President Kennedy during his inaugural address in 1961:

“Ask not what your country and do for you…but what can YOU do for YOU.”

Take care my friends & be well.
