I am reaching for this ring because from the moment I first stumbled onto a mat about 10 years ago, yoga has filled every corner of me with light and love. I have learned (and continue to learn) how to meet and face challenges on and off my mat with grace. I am reaching because I fundamentally believe that movement, serenity, and respect for oneself and other beings is a path to mind and body wellness. And though (blissfully) I will always be a student, I am reaching for this ring because I want to share these things with my family and friends, my patients, and strangers who are yet to cross my path. Noooo, not the pop sensations Nick, Joe, or Kevin… Blizzard Jonas is threatening double digits worth of snow on the East Coat. YEIKS! Personally, I LOVE snow ! Between school in Chicago and adventures in Ithaca, I’ve seen some of the worst. Besides, is there anything more beautiful than a sunrise over a fresh blanket … Continue reading

End of a challenge, beginning of a new adventure.
Tonight I am writing from an empty room. I have spent many evenings like this, falling asleep in the shell of a room. The furniture skillfully “tetrised” into a U Haul, the carpet littered with bits of cardboard, and the walls bare, save a few nail holes and pieces of tape. When I close my eyes everything magically … Continue reading

Alright, your patient has blood work that … Continue reading
You don’t have to be good at it, it is good for you.
Yesterday I participated in a hot yoga workshop. I was surrounded by fantastic yogis and yoginis getting their sweat on, balancing like flamingos, with the strength and determination of a bengal tiger. Then there was me: Needless to say I was a ball of sweat and red hair by the end: However, I realized something … Continue reading
TED MED ending at the beginning – 151a
I can’t think of a better way to end my reflection of this amazing week than at the beginning. TED MED started with a song by amazing musician Kishi Bashi: 151a refers to the Japanese term: 一期一会 which means “once in a lifetime” … truly, it was.

Hey baby, how about some O2 rich blood! Ahhhh
Sometimes I like to draw on things that aren’t cylindrical: In preparation for our pediatrics exam yesterday morning, I decided delve a little deeper into fetal circulation. So these little guys have circulation way more complicated in the womb than after they are born. This is because mom (and her placenta) are doing the work for the baby’s lungs. … Continue reading
